We started implementing aspects of the Life of an Athlete program at the beginning of the fall season. We did a general overview of the program at our parent/athlete/coach meeting but also spent a little extra time on the nutrition/recovery piece. I have seen first hand some teams/athletes that have taken the information very seriously. We now have milk, chocolate milk, and strawberry milk available in our vending machines as well as healthier snack options. The after school weight room supervisor has had a strong influence on the participants to refuel correctly and appropriately for optimum muscle build/recovery. Unfortunately we have had a few out of school incidents that have challenged us to take a look at the Code of Conduct and make necessary changes. Using the Life of an Athlete Code of Conduct model has really helped us in the process.
